Two nights, six games, two big surprises
By Jesse
Just two nights of action this week on Friday and Saturday, but Seattle and Portland still managed to play a home-and-home weekend.   The bottom two teams faced the top two teams and the bottom two came away with four points to the top teams single point.  Every week, something weird happens in this league.

Week in review

The first of the two was played in Portland with the Sounders scoring two in two minutes before the Timbers pulled one back just before stoppage time.  Too late, however, as Seattle took all three points heading into the next night's return match.  In Rochester, the Lynx continued their stunning run with a draw against the Rhinos.  One thing that I will never understand about this season is Toronto's extremes and the Rhinos' play at home.  Finally, ABSOLUTE BLISS!  On a gorgeous evening in St. Paul, Minnesota exercised a lot of the demons of missed chances and momentary lapses to score an absolutely stunning 2-1 victory.  The standing section was absolutely amazing throughout, earning "You're #1" praise from Adam Braz on multiple occasions.  I think he must have hurt his index finger though, because he kept using the middle one.  We love you too, Adam!
<<>>Saturday night, the Timbers were looking for revenge, but Seattle won again, 3-1.  Portland managed only three shots on goal the whole night, none of which forced Sounders keeper, Eylander, to make a save.  In Atlanta, the Silverbacks still haven't lost at home, but for just the second time since the stadium opened, the visitors earned a point with a 1-1 draw.  The Islanders' Alen Marcina scored the equalizer in the 76th.  In the last game of the weekend, Miami travelled to Charleston without Romario.  Despite seemingly playing reasonably well went home with a 2-0 loss hung around their collective neck.  >

New rankings

Rnk(Prv)TeamRecord Notes
1(1)Montreal (9-2-5) Took Thunder too lightly, perhaps?
2(2)Rochester(7-2-7)Still second best in the league?
3(3)Puerto Rico(7-5-4) Another good result for the Islanders
4(6) Charleston(8-6-4)  Convincing victory over Miami
5(4) Vancouver(7-5-8)  Idle
5(6) Atlanta(7-5-4)  A small blemish on the home resume
7(9)Seattle(7-8-4)  Two wins over rivals, even the Timbers is a good thing
8(8)Virginia Beach(5-5-6)  Idle
9(7)Miami(5-7-5)  Fading...
10(10)Portland(5-10-5)Need to turn it around soon, or they may fall further
11(12)Minnesota(3-8-5)   Bouced back off the bottom, keep it up boys!
12(11)Toronto(3-10-3) A draw in Rochester normally would've solidified their position

Predictions for this week

Wednesday:
Seattle at Montreal -- 1-2, Sounders are warming up, but Impact are mad

Thursday:
Portland at Virginia Beach -- 1-2, Timbers falling
Charleston at Minnesota -- 0-2, Your uncle is your brother, your sister is your mother, your sleeping with each other, the Charleston Battery

Friday:
Montreal at Atlanta -- 1-1, Silverbacks could lose, but they've really been good at home
Puerto Rico at Miami -- 1-0, I think Miami may be packing it in early
Seattle at Rochester -- 1-1, Another draw in PAETEC

Saturday:
Portland at Toronto -- 1-2, Timbers fall to the bottom
Charleston at Virginia Beach -- 2-2, Southeastern rivals fight to a draw

Sunday:
Puerto Rico at Miami -- 1-1, Miami salvages a lonely point
Seattle at Toronto -- 1-1, Hot Lynx hold off travelling Sounders
Atlanta at Minnesota -- 1-2, Surging Thunder conquer a poor road team in Atlanta

Last week's predictions

Friday:
Toronto at Rochester -- 1-1(1-2), Still don't know what's going on in Rochester
Montreal at Minnesota -- 1-2(2-0), I really don't mind being wrong
Seattle at Portland -- 2-1(1-1), Neighbors going in opposite directions

Saturday:
Miami at Charleston -- 0-2(1-1), Miami losing ground in the playoff race
Puerto Rico at Atlanta -- 1-1(1-2), Two teams on the playoff bubble fight to a draw
Portland at Seattle -- 1-3(1-2), My lone correct pick

Only one right, but I'll maintain that it was a tough week for prognostigimacation.
