St. Paul, Minn. (July 22, 2008) -- The Minnesota Thunder has announced that Head Coach Amos Magee will be stepping down as first team coach effective immediately. Assistant coach, Donny Gramenz, will serve as the interim coach while the Thunder begins an immediate search for a replacement. Magee took over from Thunder founder Buzz Lagos in 2006 to become the club’s second ever coach. Magee assumed the coaching duties from Lagos after serving as an assistant coach for two seasons. The Thunder’s All-Time Scoring Leader with 64 goals and 39 assists, Magee played 13 years with the Thunder and was elected to the Thunder Hall of Fame in 2005. He also played parts of three seasons in MLS with the Tampa Bay Mutiny and Chicago Fire, scoring three goals in his MLS career including the game-winner in overtime of the 2001 US Open Cup for the Fire. more

The Thunder fall short again, losing 0 - 1 to the Rhinos. Former Thunder player Johnny Menyonger found the back of the net for the Rhinos in the 19th minute. This goal proved to be enough to give Rochester the victory as Minnesota was unable to finish. more
